Two months ago the Rotary Club of Cleveland asked me to talk about how the increasing number of expatriates from Germany and Austria is impacting the Southeast Tennessee region. Unfortunately, I completely forgot to put the slides of my presentation on this site.
During the roughly 30 minutes with several of the best-known community leaders in Cleveland and Bradley County I had a chance to highlight some of the implications the area is experiencing in connection with the industrial investment from Germany.
The presentation focused on the social, economic, educational, and cultural influence our new neighbors from Wacker Chemie, Volkswagen, Bayer Technology Services, etc. are having.
Of course the audience got a glimpse into a few of the elements in the intercultural training programs I conduct for my clients with Höferle Consulting:
You can see by clicking through the slides that I heavily relied on two of my favorite analogies: The Peach-Coconut comparison and the Football-Soccer metaphor.
I truly enjoyed the luncheon with the rotarians who keep showing a keen interest in learning about the cultural differences between my two homelands.
